“One Blue Shirt” takes its name from an anonymous poem carved into the walls of the Angel Island detention center, where thousands of Chinese were held prior to entry into the United States. Many were deported:
I had only one blue shirt when I grew old.
The American woman asked how old I was.
Fifty years ago I was 23.
